  • Cybergrrl! A spunky, visually-appealing page that provides links to an assortment of women-related sites such as the Anne Frank Page, a Webgrrls Joborama page, and a contact page for women-owned businesses and business organizations.
  • Webgrrls International Webgrrls' mission is to help women succeed in an increasingly technical workplace and world through networking, exchanging job and business leads, and teaching new skills.
  • Femina The first World Wide Web Directory devoted exclusively to women and girls. Search the directory for sites about family, girls, religion/spirituality, and more from a female vantage-point.
  • Feminist.com Contains links to a wide variety of feminist issues. The site focuses on activism, articles and speeches, women-owned businesses, women's health issues, as well as weekly news updates and an "Outrage of the Month."
  • Women's Studies and Women's Issues Resources Sites Somewhat selective, topical and alphabetical listing of World Wide Web pages that contain useful information about women's studies and women's issues.

History

  • American Women's History: A Research Guide "American Women's History provides citations to print and Internet reference sources, as well as to selected large primary source collections. The guide also provides information about the tools researchers can use to find additional books,   articles, dissertations, and primary sources."   • By Popular Demand: "Votes for Women" Suffrage Pictures, 1850-1920 These thirty-eight pictures include individual  portraits, photographs of suffrage parades, picketing suffragists, an anti-suffrage display, and cartoons. The images, which complement a collection of text documents, are both searchable and browsable. From the American Memory Project of the Library of Congress.
  • Early Illinois Women and Other Unsung Heroes: The First One Hundred Years 1818-1918
    This site explores the lives of Illinois women during the first century of statehood. Subject areas include women pioneers, women in public life, women and religion, women at work, women in medicine, women in education, women in the arts and entertainment, and women in war. It also contains a digital archive of original material from participating Illinois libraries, as well as links to related Internet sites.

  • National Women's History Project Official site of the National Women's History Project, a non-profit corporation which was founded in 1980 and established National Women's History Month that same year. The NWHP also maintains a clearinghouse of U.S. women's history information, coordinates the Women's History Network, conducts in-service training for school teachers, and issues a seasonal catalog of women's history posters, books, and other materials.
  • Women's History by About.com. Contains NetLinks by categories, such as sports, religion, medicine, and education, as well as a frequently-updated list of  current issues.
  • Women in American History Superb site from "Encyclopedia Britannica". Contains articles on hundreds of American women from 1600 to modern times. Also included are timelines, primary documents, classic Britannica articles, audio and video clips, and a study guide.
  • Women in Military Service Choose the History and Collections area for History of Women In the Military. This site has several articles on the role of women in the U.S. military from the Revolution on, including essays on Black, Asian-American, and Native American women in the armed forces; a narrative of the struggle for racial equality by Army veterans Sarah Louise Keys and her attorney, Dovey Johnson Roundtree; and an article on military women honored on U.S. postage stamps.   • ACLU Freedom Network
    The ACLU's site contains a section on Women's Rights Issues.  This section highlights pertinent ACLU cases, contains Action Alerts, and also has links to Women's Rights legislation in Congress.
  • Feminist Majority Foundation Contains links to categories such as Women and Girls in Sports, Women's Health, Women in Politics, Women's Organizations, Violence Against Women, Women and Work, Global Feminism, as well as women's history and feminist arts and entertainment.
  • Institute for Women's Policy Research The IWPR is a public policy research organization which focuses on public policy issues of importance to women and their families.  Areas of research include poverty and welfare, employment and earnings, work and family issues, health care, domestic violence, and women's civic and political participation.
  • Ms. Foundation The Ms. Foundation supports the leadership efforts of women and girls through grantmaking, training opportunities, and public education strategies. This page describes the Foundation's mission, current projects, and also contains a link to the group's Take Our Daughters to Work Day site.
  • The National Council for Research on Women Contains links to a network of individuals and organizations involved in feminist research, policy analysis, and advocacy for women and girls. The NCRW serves as a clearinghouse for current information on research, policy, action initiatives, funding opportunities, and other feminist resources.
  • The National Organization for Women The largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. Contains general information about NOW as well as links to key issues and resources on the Internet.
  • Research Information Network for Women and Girls in Illinois by the University of Illinois at Chicago. This site contains information about women and girls in Illinois in the areas of education/training, health/aging, violence/safety, work/poverty, and family/caregiving. Information is also available for Chicago and the United States.
  • Women Watch from the United Nations. This is the UN's Internet Gateway on the Advancement and Empowerment of Women. Contains links to sites such as the UN Working for Women, UN Global Conferences and Women, current information on events and the UN and elsewhere, and selected NGO Internet sites of interest on global women's issues.

Politics

  • The First Ladies of the United States of America by the U.S. White House. Brief, generally flattering biographies of all the first ladies from Martha Washington to Michelle Obama. Includes portraits and links to husbands' pages.
  • Independent Women's Forum An examination of women's issues from a conservative perspective.
  • Women Leaders Online An award-winning activist feminist site that is battling the conservative Republican agenda and anti-woman bias in the government and media through news alerts and the mobilization of women on the Internet.

Activists

  • Women Who Dared Biographies and quotes from twelve "contemporary Jewish women activists" (Ruth Abrams, Lynn Amowitz, Renee Brant, Peggy Charren, Judi Hirshfield-Bartek, Shulamit Izen, Hannah Jukovsky, Margaret Lazarus, Susan Maze-Rothstein, Betsy Shure Gross, Gertrude Webb, Rebecca Young).
