Book Awards: Students read, then vote for the winner!

Monarch Award: Illinois' K-3 Children's Choice Award
Grades K-3


This award is given each year to the favorite book in the state of Illinois as determined by eligible K-3rd grade students. Read, have someone read to you, or listen to the audio book of at least five nominated titles to be eligible to vote for your favorite in February. Winning title will be announced in March. The books are located in their own section of the Youth Services Department.

Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Book Award
Grades 4-8


This award is given each year to the favorite book in the state of Illinois as determined by eligible 4th-8th grade students. Read, or listen to the audio book of at least three nominated titles to be eligible to vote for your favorite in February. Winning title will be announced in March. The books are located in their own section of the Youth Services Department.

Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award
Grades 9-12


This award is given each year to the favorite book in the state of Illinois as determined by eligible 9th-12th grade students. Read (or listen to the audio book) of at least four nominated titles to be eligible to vote for your favorite in February. Winning title will be announced in March.
