Book Awards: You read, then vote for the winner!Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Book AwardGrades 4-8 This award is given each year to the favorite book in the state of Illinois as determined by eligible 4th-8th grade students. Read, or listen to the audio book of at least three nominated titles to be eligible to vote for your favorite in February 2009. Winning title will be announced in March 2009. The books are located in their own section of the Youth Services Department. There is also a "quick search" in the library catalog for Juv nominated and YA nominated titles. Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award Grades 9-12 This award is given each year to the favorite book in the state of Illinois as determined by eligible 9th-12th grade students. Read (or listen to the audio book) of at least four nominated titles to be eligible to vote for your favorite in February 2009. Winning title will be announced in March 2009. The list of nominated books is available in Teen Services. List This on Your College Application!Sign up by Monday, October 18, 2008Read for a Lifetime! Grades 9-12 Read for a Lifetime is a state-sponsored program for teens in grades 9-12. To participate, simply stop by the library to sign up. You'll have until March 31, 2009 to read four books of the list of designated titles. Teens who complete the program will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment from the State and a discount coupon for Waldenbooks, the program's co-sponsor. It also looks great on your college applications, so stop in and sign up by Monday, October 18, 2008!
